Ingredients

2 pounds Ground Beef
1 cup Onions, chopped
¾ cup Green Bell Peppers
3 whole Garlic cloves, chopped
16 ounces Canned tomatoes, cut up
16 ounces Red Kidney Beans
8 ounces Canned Tomato Sauce
2 tablespoon Tomato Paste
¼ cup Salsa (optional)
¼ cup Basil, fresh, chopped
1 tablespoon Chili powder
½ teaspoon Cumin
½ teaspoon Cinnamon
1 whole Bay leaf
2 teaspoon Sugar
1 teaspoon Salt
½ teaspoon Pepper

Method

1) Sauté ground beef with onion, bell pepper, and garlic and drain fat.
2) Stir in remaining ingredients, including undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, kidney beans and herbs, spices, salt and pepper and simmer, covered, for 20 minutes or more.

Notes

Optional: serve with cheddar cheese, sour cream and corn bread.
